“The Tigers” proudly show off their skills in all aspects of firefighting & rescue. The helmet shields pay homage to the rig’s past life with the former apparatus number of the department they previously served with.

When I commented how much I liked their artwork, Chief of Department Paul Dietrich said “Come here, let me show what these wise-asses did to my car”. He proceeded to show me the first piece of artwork (on the driver’s side), then the other (passenger side) and then removed his cap to show the likeness!! Special thanks to Chief Dietrich for being a good sport & posing for this shot!!

Hudson Falls Fire Department

Paul MacMurray, an 11-year veteran of the Hudson Falls Fire Department, made the supreme sacrifice at a fire in the Parkview Hotel on August 27th, 1994. In the true form of a dedicated volunteer, FF MacMurray responded to "Box 22" for the Parkview Hotel while celebrating the birthday of one of his three children.  While conducting a primary search of the second floor, after having successfully removed several occupants, a flashover occurred and physical contact was lost between the search team. Despite the valiant efforts of his brother firefighters, efforts to rescue Firefighter MacMurray were unsuccessful and he was finally located at 18:30 hours.

Two days later, an unemployed drifter and two month resident of the Parkview Hotel, admitted to intentionally setting the fire. On March 1st, 1995, he was sentenced to 25 years to life for the arson & murder of Firefighter Paul MacMurray.

May FF MacMurray’s sacrifice never be forgotten...

8/27/1994

To preserve the moment Firefighter Paul MacMurray entered service that evening resulting in his ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, his gear rack was sealed as a standing memorial. It contains a fire alarm box numbered 22 along with articles about his brave act as well as his actual baseball cap and sneakers left behind that night as he responded to the alarm.
