Delivered in 2003, Engine 3-4-2 was the last engine to be ordered with reels. Interestingly enough, Islip operated with 3” supply lines (and still does presently), a rarity among apparatus equipped with reels which typically hold large diameter supply line (4 or 5 inch).

FIREMATIC HISTORY

Engine 3-4-7 - 1989 Mack MC/Emergency One

Retired in 2007 with the arrival of a Pierce Dash, this rig featured reels for both booster and supply lines. Note the mini-control panel situated just aft of the booster reels which was accessed via a walkway in the hosebed between the reels.

Special thanks to department photographer/webmaster Tom Kaminski for his assistance in providing these photos as well as information on Islip’s history of reel equipped apparatus.
