Malverne Fire Department

Established in 1911 as the Norwood Hook, Ladder & Hose Co., the MFD protects a two square mile area of residential & commercial occupancies as well as a stretch of the Southern State Parkway, a major east-west thoroughfare. Eighty volunteers provide Fire & Rescue services from a single firehouse with a fleet of three engines, a tower ladder, heavy rescue and fire police van.

Equipped with an 8 man cab, the rig features an on-board diesel generator and pre-piped air to the bucket. It is outfitted with a combustible gas meter, multi-gas detector, CO meter, thermal imager, Stokes basket and RIT pack. In addition to acting as a dedicated truck company, this rig responds as a mutual aid F.A.S.T. (Firefighter Assist & Search Team) to neighboring communities.
