Acquired in 2018 from a fire department in Massachusetts with only 30,000 miles on the odometer, it replaced an aging Ford F800/Emergency One engine also painted Red/White. To fit within the confines of their apparatus bays, the lightbar was lowered along with the deck gun while the rear pedestal warning lights were removed.
Tanker 229 - 2018 Spartan Gladiator/4 Guys 1000 gpm/2500 gal.
This rig is one of three tankers provided by the Town of Newtown for its' fire companies (Sandy Hook and Botsford received the others). The tank was scaled down by 300 gallons due to size limits within the firehouse which features a steep sloped driveway in front of the bays.
Tanker 229 (Retired) - 1991 White GMC/Emergency One 475 gpm/2800 gal.
After 27 years of service, this rig was replaced with the 2018 Spartan/4 Guys 2500 gallon tanker shown above. It now operates with the Bridgewater Fire Co. in neighboring Litchfield County where it has been wrapped in a Red color scheme including American flag graphics.
