Organized in 1949, Stony Hill Vol. Fire Co. serves the North end of the Town of Bethel while providing automatic aid to neighboring Brookfield. Providing Fire, Rescue and Basic Life Support level EMS protection, twenty five active volunteers answer 1400-1500 alarms annually.
Engine 1 ("King of the Hill") - 2013 Pierce Arrow XT 2000 gpm/2000 gal.
Seating six, Engine 1 is assigned to respond first due to non-hydranted areas and second due to commercial alarms. In addition, it responds on the second alarm to Brookfield and is part of a regional tanker strike team (having traveled over
45 miles as far North as Torrington for a tire factory fire). Its' hose load includes a bumper mounted 150' 1-3/4" attack line, two 200' pre-connects (1-3/4" and 2-1/2"), 200' of 2-1/2" attack line, 200' of 3" pre-connected to a portable monitor and
1,200' of 5" LDH supply line.
Engine 3 - 2005 Pierce Enforcer 2000 gpm/1000 gal.
Responding first due to hydranted areas within Stony Hill's coverage area, it is outfitted with a Hurst® hydraulic cutter and combi-tool.
Engine 11 - 1983 Duplex/Pierce 1250 gpm/750 gal.
Formerly assigned as Engine 1, this rig now serves as a reserve piece.

Seating six (five with SCBA), It features a generator and light tower. Assigned to respond to neighboring Brookfield for RIT. it is equipped with Hurst® battery and hydraulic extrication tools (spreader/cutter/rams), air bags,
Res-Q-Jack struts, light rope rescue and water rescue (with exposure suits being added following a recent dog rescue).
