Organized in 1956, the Gardner Lake Fire Co. serves the Town of Salem providing Fire, Rescue and BLS level transporting EMS service. Covering an area of 29 square miles, twenty five active volunteers operating from one station answer in excess of 700 alarms with well over 500 being for EMS responses.
Engine Tanker 127 - 2000 Spartan/Ferrara 1250 gpm/1000 gallon
Responding first due to most alarms, it is outfitted with two 1-3/4" pre-connects (150'/200') a 150' 2/-1/2" pre-connected attack line with TFT ®Blitzfire portable monitor, RIT equipment and 1,000 of 5" LDH supply line with a triple port manifold.
Rescue 127 - 2000 Spartan/SVI
Featuring a light tower, fixed and portable generators for powering extrication tools, a portable winch and two bottle cascade system, Rescue 127 was awarded Best Appearing Heavy Rescue at the state parade
in 2001-2003 and again in 2006. It is equipped with two full sets of Hurst® hydraulic extrication tools, airbags, Res-Q-Jack® struts, rope rescue gear, haz-mat containment supplies and BLS level medical gear
including a jump bag, Stokes basket and backboards. In addition, it is also outfitted with a microwave, Keurig® coffee maker and rehab supplies (bottled water, Gatorade®, granola bars).UTV 127 (M.U.T.T.) - 2008 Polaris 6x6
Affectionately known at "The Mutt" (although no one knows quite what the acronym stands for), it is set up for both wildland firefighting and EMS. Accordingly, it is outfitted with a winch, BLS medical gear and Stokes basket for patient evacuation as well as a small towable trailer to carry additional tools for wildland firefighting. .
