Originally serving the FDNY as Ladder 14 (Harlem, Borough of Manhattan) and 124 (Bedford-Stuyvesant, Borough of Brooklyn) during "The War Years", this rig was acquired by Keasbey and refurbished in 1985. After 28 years of faithful service, it was sent to KME for a major refurbishment including engine work which involved creating a new engine tunnel hence the unyque look of the front grille.
Hazle Township Fire Rescue (Pennsylvania), Rescue 141 (Retired) - 2014 KME
Retired in 2019 while awaiting delivery of a Seagrave two door tandem axle walk-in style heavy rescue, this rig now serves as Rescue 16 with the Lincoln Fire Co. of Ephrata in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Seating eight, it features a light tower and six bottle 6,000 psi cascade system. Its' extensive equipment complement included six pre-connected Hurst® extrication tools, over 3,000 lbs. of cribbing (including long shores), Res-Q-Jacks®, air shores as well as medium and high pressure airbags. In addition, it carried a Pak-Hammer, acetylene torch, high angle/confined space rescue gear (including mono and tri-pods), haz-mat mitigation supplies and RIT equipment.
Glenside Fire Co. No. 1 (Pennsylvania), Engine 1-1 (Retired) - 1982 Mack CF-600 1500 gpm/500 gal.
One of identical twins that were rotated periodically through first due status, it replaced one of twin 1972 Seagrave open cab pumpers. In addition to breaking a long standing tradition of using Seagrave brand apparatus, Engine 1-1 was also the first to feature a closed canopy cab, have a diesel motor and be painted White-over-Red. Having remained in active frontline service responding first due to brush/dumpster fires and wires down calls until late 2019, it was retired after 37 years of faithful service.
Deptford FD (New Jersey), Quick Attack 937 - 2016 Ford F450 4x4/Knapheide/Dept. Built
This unyque rig was built entirely in-house in the department's warehouse utilizing existing spare parts and those from former apparatus. Designed by Battalion Chief Jeff Pfeiffer and constructed with the assistance of FF Jonathan Kell, the Knapheide® utility body was ordered with extended height front compartments. Utilizing the foam tank from the former quick attack unit (as well as the Stang monitor platform), the unit is outfitted with a 200 gallon gravity fed 1-3% AR-AFFF foam system as well as a 125 lb.
Purple K extinguishing system with 100' reel (the Purple K system was repurposed from a 1997 KME engine while the booster reel was a spare on hand). It features a 1,500 gpm front monitor, 2,000 gpm rear monitor and a 150' 1-1/2" pre-connected hand line. Its' equipment
load includes four SCBA with spare cylinders, a 2500kw portable generator, 100' of 5" LDH supply line, two 5 gallon foam pails for small incidents, couplings/adapters, assorted nozzles and eductors (ranging from 30-2000 gpm) and a street hydrant. In addition, it also carries a chain saw, portable submersible pump, a small complement of leak control supplies and chemical reference materials.Folcroft Fire Co. No. 1 (Pennsylvania), Squad 01 - 2015 Rosenbauer Commander MP3 1500 gpm/720 gal./30 gal. Class B foam
Squad 01 features a 10kw generator, four bottle 6,000 psi cascade system and a ten bag capacity absorbent hopper. For firefighting, it is outfitted with six SCBA, a 150' 1-3/4" bumper line, three 225' speedlays (two 1-3/4", one 2-1/2"), a 300' 2-1/2" rear pre-connect, 1,400' of 4" LDH supply line and an additional 50 gallons of Class B foam. For rescue operations, it is equipped with Hurst® e-Draulic extrication tools, high pressure airbags, high lift jacks, three saws (rotary/chain/Cutters Edge®) and swift water rescue gear/rescuer PPE.
Sayreville FD, Melrose Hose Co# 3 (New Jersey) - Brush 3 - 1993 BMY/Red River Army Depot 250 gpm/600 gal.
Shown here in the Summer of 2017, this rig which was rebuilt by the Red River Army Depot was initially in service as a high water response unit carrying a rigid inflatable boat in the bed. It was later converted to a brush unit with the addition of a CET 250 gpm pump and 600 gallon tank.
Violetsville Vol. Fire Co. (Maryland), Engine 341 (Retired) - 2001 American LaFrance Eagle 1250 gpm/800 gal.
Following a merger with the Lansdowne Fire Co., this rig was sold and entered service with the Nisbet Fire Co. of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. A refurbishment included body work and paint, upgraded emergency lighting as well as the installation of a new poly tank and removal of the 50 gallon foam system. The rig retains the "King of the Hill" artwork from Violetsville with the shield changed with the number 7 to reflect its' new assignment with Nisbet. Having replaced a 1991 HME/Grumman 1250/750 engine, it is now equipped with extrication tools for light rescue, a pre-connected monitor and 5" LDH supply line complete with a gated wye appliance.
Barrington Fire Co. No. 1 (New Jersey), Tower 91 - 1985 Mack CF/Baker/2013 Pierce Arrow XT 95' Aerialscope
Originally delivered to the East Islip FD (Long Island, New York) as a 1985 Mack CF series canopy cab, this rig was sold to Barrington in 2010 when replaced with a new Seagrave 95' Aerialscope. Barrington FC# 1 then ran the Mack for several years until 2012 when it was then sent to Pierce to have the boom and outriggers remounted on a new Arrow XT chassis.
Greenville VFD (New York), Squad 11-3 - 2006 Spartan Gladiator/CustomFire 2000 gpm
Shown serving its' second career with the Greenville VFD in Greene County, New York, this rig was originally custom built for the Mount Horeb VFD in Wisconsin which is well known for their signature Black apparatus adorned with a multitude of warning lights/sirens. Measuring 39' 9" long, this well appointed rig features a 2,000 gpm two stage rear mount pump with foam capability, a 6" intake and officer's side pump control panel. It is outfitted with a front mount hydraulic winch with synthetic cable, 30kw hydraulic generator, six head light tower and a 1,000 BTU heater for SCBA storage. Seating six (five with SCBA, all with radio headsets), there is an oxygen cylinder under the bench seat plumbed to outlets in the cab. Pre-connected rear mounted attack lines and an LDH supply line bed round out this rig's firefighting capabilities. When serving Mount Horeb, it was equipped with Holmatro® extrication tools, RIT tools, 38' of ground ladders and a BlitzFire portable monitor. In keeping with Mount Horeb's tradition of outfitting their rigs with an abundance of warning devices, Squad 11-3 features two mechanical sirens, two electronic "Q" sirens, four Mars 888 lights and a Buckeye Roto-Ray.
Parsippany-Troy Hills VFC, District# 5 (New Jersey) - Ladder 5 (Retired) - 2001 Pierce Lance 105'/2000 gpm/500 gal.
Replaced with a 2017 Pierce Impel Ascendant 107'/2000/500 quint, this rig now serves Lexington Fire and Rescue, a combination department in Missouri. In a unanimous decision on behalf of the officers, the rig will be identified as Truck 8 - the significance of its' number is that the 8th letter of the alphabet is "H" used to honor the memory of past member Harold Hollingsworth who suffered a LODD in 2013 while responding to an incident with the Fort Osage Fire Protection District.
The rig will be lettered "Big H" (Firefighter Hollingsworth's nickname) in honor of his supreme sacrifice.Hammonton VFD (New Jersey), Rescue 97 - 2016 Spartan Gladiator/Marion 1500 gpm/750 gal.
Serving "The Blueberry Capital of the World", this rig features a 30kw hydraulic generator, light tower and 20 gallon Akron® Class A and B foam system. It is equipped with Hurst® extrication tools, Paratech® rescue struts, Maxi-Force® airbags and a Ramsey® portable winch.
