St. Mary's County Company 2
Founded in 1934, Mechanicsville VFD serves the communities of Mechanicsville and Charlotte Hall in a 76 square mile first due response area that is larger than the entire District of Columbia in Washington. Providing Fire and Rescue protection, 150 active volunteers answer an annual average of 900 alarms.
Station 2
Serving as the headquarters for Mechanicsville, this large station features living quarters for live-in members as well as a large banquet hall. It houses an engine, engine tanker, tanker, heavy rescue, brush unit, water rescue boat and support vehicles.
Engine-23 - 2016 Pierce Enforcer 1250 gpm/750 gal.
Responding first due, Engine 2 seats six and is outfitted with a 200' 1-3/4" bumper line. The rear mounted hose load consists of 250' and 400' of 1-3/4", 250' of 2" and 600' of 2-1/2" attack lines (with smooth bore nozzles)
as well as 1,500' of 4" supply line with a Humat® valve.
Engine 21 (Retired) - 1989 Pierce Lance 1250 gpm/600 gal.
Slated to be replaced with a new Pierce Enforcer in 2023, this rig responded second due from Station 22 and was set up to operate as an engine for the tanker fill site. Seating six, it was outfitted with 38' of hard suction, 1,200' of 4" LDH supply line, a pre-connected 4" fill site supply line mated to a 4" dual gated wye, dual fill lines with quick-connect couplings, eight spare quick-connect 2-1/2" couplings for incoming
direct tanker fills and a floating strainer.
Engine Tanker 2 - 2019 Pierce Enforcer 1250/2000
Seating six, it is outfitted with the same hose load as Engine 2.
Tanker 2 - 1995 Freightliner/4 Guys1250 gpm/3000 gal./20 gal. Class A foam
Set up for tanker shuttle operations, it features a built-in balanced pressure Class A foam system, 20 gal. Class A foam tank, 10" rear quick dump with swivel chute, 4" direct fill with a pre-connected 2-1/2" female adapter and 6" direct fill with 30' of pre-connected soft suction. It is outfitted with pre-connected 1" forestry and 1-3/4" attack lines as well as both 3" and 4" supply hose, 700' of 4" LDH supply line, a 30' pony length
of 4" and 3,500 gallon folding tank. In addition, it also carries 30' of hard suction, 1,200' of 3" supply line, a Humat® valve for in-line supply without interruption of the water supply, a floating pump, floating/low level strainers,
portable 1-1/2" and 2-1/2" Class A/B foam eductors as well as 40 gallons each of Class A & B foam in pails.
Brush 2 - 2007 Ford F350 HP pump/250 gal./5 gal. Class A foam
This rig is assigned first due for brush fires and weather related emergencies including fallen trees.
Rescue 2 - 2013 Pierce Arrow XT 250 gpm/250 gal.
Measuring in at over 38' long, this "wet rescue" features a 35kw PTO generator with two cord reels, 15' light tower, cascade system with two low pressure air reels and upgraded LED warning/scene lighting.
It is outfitted with Hurst® hydraulic extrication tools (due to be transitioned to Holmatro® Pentheon series battery powered tools) including two spreaders, cutters and rams, air bags, Paratech® rescue struts,
Res-Q-Jacks®, rope/water rescue gear (including a "banana boat") and haz-mat mitigation supplies.
