Organized February 2, 1898 the newly formed fire company adopted the name Washington Fire Co. No. 1 in recognition of President George Washington's birthday. Present day, it provides Fire protection to Delanco Township with 22 active volunteer members answering an average of 300 alarms.
Washington Fire Co. No. 1 operates from this five bay firehouse housing both the fire company and ambulance squad. An ancillary building in the rear houses the brush truck and their antique rig.
Engine 1112 - 2015 Seagrave 2000 gpm/750 gal.
The newest rig in the fleet, Engine 1112 maintains the company's long standing relationship with Seagrave having operated their brand of apparatus since 1923. The company adopted their unyque "Coronado Yellow" color scheme while in the market for a new engine - upon visiting the Seagrave plant, a completed pumper featuring this color was seen in the factory. Having been ordered by a department which failed
to take delivery, Seagrave made Washington FC# 1 an offer they couldn't refuse with the stipulation the rig remain painted in its' current color scheme. Upon delivery, the company members at first questioned
the color choice, however, it came to be accepted and has been the color of the company on every apparatus ordered since 1923.
Engine 1114 - 1998 Seagrave 1500 gpm/750 gal.
Quint 1115 - 2005 Pierce Dash 75'/2000 gpm/400 gal.
An anomaly among their largely Seagrave fleet, Pierce was chosen to build this aerial quint due to their ability to offer a raised roof cab and larger water tank.
Brush 1116 - 1974 International 208/Pierce Mustang 300 gpm/275 gal.
Nicknamed the "Grasshopper", this workhorse continues to operate in active service despite having been on fire twice! Originally painted Red having formerly served a fire company in Mount Holly, it was repainted in Washington's unyque "Coronado Yellow" color scheme.

Original to Washington Fire Co. No. 1, this rig is one of a long line of Seagrave apparatus operated since 1923 when the company's first new rig was delivered.
