Having stored their original horse drawn hand pumper in a garage, Bellmawr Fire Co. No. 1 later occupied Borough Hall which was built during the Depression and offered limited space for the fire company's operations. The members built a recreation room on the east side and later an extension on the west side doubling the size of the existing engine room. In 1956, the baseball field adjacent to the borough hall and firehouse was purchased and the current firehouse was constructed. Present day, Bellmawr Fire & Rescue Squad No. 1 (as they are now known) operates their entire fleet from this four bay station which includes the "2nd Alarm Lounge" (see photos below) as well as the "Bellmawr Room", a banquet hall utilized as a revenue source by the company. Their house siren, currently mounted on a cell tower was refurbished in 1999 after originally being mounted on a tower (circa 1925) that had been rebuilt after being disassembled by hand from a location in neighboring Haddon Heights. The siren was purchased through donations collected from citizens driving on Black Horse Pike.
