Organized in 1923, the Pompton Falls Vol. Fire Department is one of five independent fire companies operating as the Wayne Fire Department. Jointly serving a 28 mile response area, they once covered 1/3 of the township’s land area.
The current five bay firehouse was built in 1945 by the department members who donated their weekends for an entire year to complete the project. Several additions have been completed over the years including the latest in 2006 to accommodate Engines 3-2 and 3-5.
Engine 3-1 - 2010 Pierce Velocity 1500 gpm/750 gal./30 gal. Class A foam
Seating seven (six with SCBA), this rig features a 10kw hydraulic generator, 200 lb. speedy-dry hopper with thru-the-body dispenser, “On-Spot”® chains and a low profile pump with side access top mount pump operator panel. A Husky® foam system is plumbed to five discharges (including the deck gun and several pre-connects). Its' hose load includes an 1-3/4" bumper line, two 1-3/4” pre-connected crosslays and a 200’ rear pre-connect in the hose bed.
Engine 3-2 - 2005 Pierce Dash 1750 gpm/750 gal./30A foam/CAFS
Seating eight (six with SCBA), it is equipped with a 7.5 kw diesel generator (fed from the vehicle's fuel tank), “On-Spot”® chains and a Backstop® touch activated back-up safety device. Five discharges are plumbed to flow foam/CAFS to the deck gun, three 1-3/4” pre-connects (one for car fires) and a 2-1/2” rear pre-connect.
Engine 3-5 - 2005 Pierce Dash AWD 1750 gpm/500 gal./30A foam/CAFS
Equipped with all wheel drive, this rig features a 7.5 kw diesel generator (fed from the vehicle's fuel tank), an automatic deck gun and a front bumper mounted reel with 2 1/2” attack line (replaced with 1” forestry hose
during brush season). It is plumbed to flow foam/CAFS to the deck gun, 1-3/4” and 2-1/2” pre-connects, a 2-1/2” bumper discharge as well as an officers side 2-1/2” discharge.
Tower 3 (Retired) - 1996 Emergency One 110’/2000 gpm
Retired in 2016, this rig was replaced with a Pierce Velocity 100'/2000/300 rear mount ladder tower. In addition to standard truck tools, Tower 3 was outfitted with a full complement of rope rescue gear.
