Read MoreOriginally built in 1958 with several additions over the years, the current station was constructed in 2012 without borrowing funding and at no cost to taxpayers! Its’ state of the art design includes a fitness room, a dedicated bay to showcase the company’s original 1931 Ahrens Fox pumper, a mezzanine area providing storage and training space as well as a 9/11 memorial.
Engine 405 - 1993 Pierce Lance 1500 gpm/750 gal./50 gal. foam
One of twins, these rigs replaced 1975 and 1979 custom Maxim pumpers featuring reels for 1,000 of 3” supply line. Seating six (five with SCBA), these compact rigs are equipped with four pre-connects (1-3/4" and 2-1/2") as well as 1,575’ of 4” LDH supply line. The other rig (Engine 406) was replaced with a 2018 Pierce Enforcer 1500/750 that was subsequently acquired by the Albany County Sheriff's Department for use in a newly established inmate firefighter training program at their correctional facility.

The third unit since the late 1940's in a long tradition of operating Jeeps for brush firefighting, this compact little unit is designed to operate on narrow bike and foot trails. Featuring a 250' booster reel, it is outfitted with 200' of forestry hose, 100' of 1-1/2" attack line and two SCBA.
Rescue 2 (“Who You Callin’ Yella?”) - 1998 Pierce Lance
In 1995, a consolidation agreement was signed with the neighboring Midway and Fuller Road Fire Departments whereby Colonie Fire Company sold their 1970’s era aerial quint and agreed to build a heavy rescue that would serve all three districts. Seating seven (six with SCBA, all seats with radio headsets and portable radios), it responds for technical rescue as well as a Firefighter Assist and Search Team (FAST). It is outfitted with a 35kw generator, two light towers, a four bottle cascade system with two bottle fill station and two Hurst® power plants. For vehicle extrication, it is equipped with six Hurst® MOC Series hydraulic extrication tools (including three pre-connected), two portable gas powered generators, air bags, Paratech® rescue struts and DeWalt® battery powered hand tools. In addition, it also carries multiple saws (rotary/chain/reciprocating), rope rescue gear, over 20 spare SCBA cylinders, an A-frame assembly and a portable six ton winch. Rescue 2 is adorned with the slogan “Who You Callin’ Yella?” in response to the Lotus Creme paint scheme the company has utilized since the 1940’s.
