Lee Center Vol. Fire Department
Serving the rural Town of Lee, the Lee Center VFD’s 40 volunteer members answer an average of 320 alarms annually providing Fire, Extrication and EMS First Response services. They operate their entire fleet from this seven bay firehouse.
Engine 1 (Retired) - 1971 Ward LaFrance Ambassador 1250 gpm/1000 gal.
After 38 years of faithful service, this rig was replaced in 2009 with a new Sutphen engine.
Engine 2 - 1989 Mack CF/Emergency One 1500 gpm/1000 gal.
Acting as a water source engine, it is equipped with 10’ and 30' sections of 6” suction hose as well as dual folding tanks.
Rescue Pumper 1 - 2006 Freightliner/Tracy 1500 gpm/1000 gal.
The first and only Tracy brand apparatus (a Canadian manufacturer) I have ever photographed, this rig is designed for maximum efficiency with limited manpower. Outfitted with an on-board foam system, it is equipped with a full set of Hurst® extrication tools, airbags and safety equipment for use when dealing with hybrid alternative power vehicles.
Tactical Unit (Retired) - 1968 Dodge Power Wagon/Saulsbury 250 gpm/300 gal.
A unyque feature of this rig is the two "squad style" helmets mounted on the hood. This rig was replaced with a new 2022 Ford F-550 Super Cab XL/Weis Quick Attack flatbed style brush unit complete with single rear tires, a high pressure pump with Class A foam system, remote control bumper mounted monitor and painted in a striking Black-over-Lime-Yellow color scheme.
Tanker 1 - 1990 Mack MS Midliner 2000 gal.
To further extend the service life of this apparatus, the tank body was remounted on a new Mack Granite cab and chassis.
Rescue 1 (Retired) - 1996 Chevrolet Suburban
Replaced with a newer Chevrolet Suburban assigned for EMS first response, this rig featured a light tower and was fully equipped with BLS medical gear including an AED.
Squad 1 - 2003 Ford F-350
Serving as a support vehicle, it is equipped with Hurst® extrication tools, salvage equipment and portable pumps.
