In the 1860's, Rockland Lake was a thriving town known for its' world famous "Blue Ice" that was cut from the lake each winter, stored in ice houses and shipped worldwide. In 1861, the Barmore Ice House, a five story warehouse with a capacity of 40,000 tons of ice burned to the ground causing a $50,000 total loss.
This devastating fire was the impetus for the formation of Knickerbocker Engine Co# 1 which was organized in 1862. Present day, the company protects a residential community situated within Rockland Lake State Park which encompasses 1,960 acres attracting 700,000 visitors annually. Department# 14 as they are
known in the Rockland County radio numbering system protects the largest water response area in Rockland County covering 25 miles of the Hudson River between Haverstraw and Nyack. Twenty five volunteers provide Fire and Rescue protection answering from 50-250 alarms annually (based largely on seasonal

This rig features a generator, multiple floodlights (fixed and portable), deck gun and a 350' booster reel. It is equipped with eight SCBA, 250'/350' 1-3/4" pre-connects, 1,300' of 5" LDH supply line, a K-12 saw and several sets of turn-out gear for members responding directly to the scene.

Designed to pack a powerful punch in a compact package, this rig features a plumbed deck gun, a portable winch with receiver points on all sides and LED scene lighting (fixed and telescopic). Its' hose complement includes 1,500' of 1" forestry hose, 250'/350' of 2-1/2" attack line, 3,000' of 3-1/2" supply line and hard suction sleeves. It is outfitted with four SCBA, an AmkusĀ® spreader and cutter, Pro-PakĀ® handheld foam unit, water rescue gear, Stokes basket and ground ladders.

Originally serving a volunteer fire company in New York City, this rig was acquired as Knickerbocker's first apparatus. It has been maintained in pristine condition and is frequently shown in local parades.
