Blue Point FD
Read MoreOrganized in 1890 as the Hook & Ladder Co., the department's first firehouse was occupied in 1891 with a vast majority rented out including the first floor to a real estate/insurance business (next to the apparatus bay that housed the original apparatus) as well as the second floor meeting room (company meetings were held in the back of the store on the first floor). The fire district (organized 1905) later constructed the two bay firehouse shown above in 1922 which received extensions in 1953 and 1975 adding more apparatus bays as well as picnic grounds.
Engine 5-2-2 - 2010 Pierce Impel 1500 gpm/750 gal.
Engine 2 is assigned to Manowtasquott Engine Co., the Algonquin Indian name for Blue Point which translates to "Land of the Basket Rush Place". Originally organized in 1922 as Hose Co# 2, the company was later renamed Engine Hose Co. until 1965 when it was changed to the current name.
Engine 5-2-7 - 2016 Pierce Enforcer 1500 gpm/500 gal.
This rig which is run by Hose Co# 1 (organized 1900) replaced a 1991 Pierce Lance engine that was sold to the Blue Point Brewery in neighboring Patchogue where it was eventually repainted White-over-Blue to match their fleet of promotional vehicles.
Ladder 5-2-3 - 2006 Ferrara Inferno 77'/1500 gpm/750 gal.
Assigned to Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1 (the department's original company), this rig replaced a Seagrave canopy cab 100' rear mount ladder. It is due to be replaced in the Summer of 2022 with a new tandem axle Pierce Arrow XT 105' HD rear mount aerial.
