Rockaway Point Fire Department
Read MoreOrganized in 1914, the Rockaway Point FD serves the beachfront communities of Rockaway Point and Breezy Point from the Marine Parkway Bridge west into Breeze Point. Providing Fire, Rescue and BLS level EMS protection, 15-20 active volunteers answer an annual average of 500-700 alarms (which varies based on seasonal responses).
Engine 5 - 2004 HME 4x4 1750 gpm/750 gal.
Acquired in August of 2021, Engine 5 originally served the Refton FC in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and replaced a 1987 Pemfab/American Eagle 1500/1000 engine that had been donated by Millville, Delaware following Hurricane Sandy in 2012 when Rockaway Point's entire fleet was destroyed. Featuring four wheel drive, it seats six (five with SCBA) and had its' warning lights converted to LED in-house. Its' equipment complement includes a 100' 1-3/4" bumper line (car fires), 250' 1-3/4" crosslays with the rear hosebed containing 300' of 1-3/4" over 400' of 2-1/2" (for long stretches), 500' of 2-1/2" attack line and 400' of 3-1/2" supply line. While plumbed for Holmatro® CORE series hydraulic extrication tools, it currently is outfitted with a Hurst® e-Draulic cutter and spreader.

Seating four (three with SCBA), this rig features an officer's side pump panel. Its' hose complement includes 1-3/4" crosslays of 100' (car fires) and 250' while the rear hosebed contains 250' of 1-3/4" over 400' 2-1/2" attack line (for long stretches) and 400' of 3-1/2" supply line. Assigned to respond for water rescue, it is outfitted with a surfboard, four Stearns® survival suits, 600' of ocean rescue rope and other water rescue equipment. Truck 4
is the latest Darley brand apparatus run by Rockaway Point over the span of the last fifty years (previous rigs included 1973 Dodge and 2002 GMC mini-pumpers and a 1993 International crew cab four wheel drive engine with front mount pump).Rescue 1 - 2013 Ford F450 4x4/Wheeled Coach
One of two four wheel drive ambulances (hence the single rear tires), this rig replaced a 2008 Ford E350/Wheeled Coach 4x4 ambulance that was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. It provides Basic life support level EMS transport with Advanced life support level care provided by FDNY*EMS Paramedics from Station 47 in Rockaway.
