Organized in 1948, over fifty volunteers provide Fire, Technical Rescue and EMS first response to a primarily residential area including 13 miles of lakeshore - accordingly North Queensbury VFC operates a fleet of water rescue craft to perform water/ice rescue
(including ice diving) of numerous visitors to the area.Engine 325 - 1999 Spartan/Saulsbury 1500 gpm/1000 gal.
Responding as the first due attack engine as well as for mutual aid, Engine 325 features a dual class A and B foam system, hydraulic generator and a 3,000 watt light tower. It is equipped with five pre-connected attack lines, 1,200’ of 5” LDH supply line and a Hurst® combi-tool.
Engine Tanker 326 (Retired) - 1988 Ford C/S&S 1250 gpm/1250 gal.
Formerly assigned for water supply, this rig featured a custom four door cab enclosure on a Ford C model commercial chassis. Accordingly, it featured an 8” rear dump and was equipped with five pre-connects and 1,200’ of 5” LDH supply line. It was replaced in 2010 with a tandem axle Pierce Arrow XT 2000/2000 pumper tanker.
Engine 327 (Retired) - 2002 Ford F-550/Saulsbury 1000 gpm/200 gal./30A
While at first glance this rig might appear to be a light rescue, it was in actuality a water supply engine designed to establish a water source at lakes and ponds. Packing quite a punch, its’ impressive features included four 6” electric valves allowing draft from all sides, electronically controlled discharges, an 8KW hydraulic generator powering a 3,000 watt light tower as well as a 12,000 lb. front mounted winch. It was equipped with 500’ of 5” supply line, 700’ of forestry hose, four pre-connects (two each 1-3/4” and 3”), a portable generator with floodlight, 5,000 lb. portable winch with three receiver points as well as EMS and forestry equipment.
Rescue 125 - 1996 Volvo/Saulsbury
A rarity in the American fire service, Rescue 125 is mounted on a Volvo chassis with a custom ten man crew cab built into the rescue box by Saulsbury. Featuring a 48kw split shaft generator, it provides power for two 6,000 watt light towers, eight reels (four 100’ Hurst®, three 250’ electric and one 100’ air), an on-board air system and a 5,000 lb. portable winch with three receiver points. Outfitted with pre-connected and portable Hurst® extrication tools (including a pre-connected cutter and combi-tool on the extended front bumper), its’ equipment complement includes water/ice and rope rescue gear, an MCI disaster kit, 10 backboards and EMS supplies.
