Verplanck
Read MoreOrganized in 1929 as the Verplanck Fire Protective Association, the department protects the hamlet of Verplanck in the Town of Cortlandt including the Indian Point Energy Center. One hundred active volunteers provide Fire, Rescue and BLS level EMS protection answering an average of 300 alarms annually.
Constructed in 1960, as the department's second firehouse, it replaced the Westchester House which served as the original firehouse occupied when the fire district was formed and a bond was issued for a new engine, equipment and firehouse. Present day, it houses Verplanck's fleet including two engines, a tower ladder, utility squad, UTV ("Gator"), ambulance and several rescue watercraft.
