Originally chartered in 1870 as Liberty Fire Co#1, the present day Peru FD serves the City of Peru as well as a 36 mile rural response area. Operating as a combination department with a full time fire chief, four full time firefighters (one per shift on duty as an engineer) and a paid-on-call force, the department answers an average of 300 alarms annually.

Assigned as the first out rescue pumper, this rig responds driver only. It is equipped with pre-connected T-N-T® s extrication tools (combi-tool on front bumper, spreader and cutter in rear compartment) as well as a portable pump.

Responding for rescue assignments, it is equipped with three pre-connected XRT® extrication tools. In addition, it carries equipment for rope/confined space rescue as well as for an eight member dive team.
