Organized in 1935, Delaware Valley Vol. Fire Co. serves a 60 mile area providing Fire, Rescue and EMS First Response protection to Tinicum Township. Thirty five volunteers respond from two stations with supplemental weekday staffing provided by a public works crew from the township whose members
all have 20+ years fire service experience and are current or former chiefs!Engine 48 - 2010 KME 1500 gpm/1000 gal.
Seating six (five with SCBA), this rig features a 10 kw hydraulic generator and two 1500 watt brow lights. Responding first due from the main station, it is equipped with an 1-3/4" bumper line, three crosslays (1-3/4" and 2-1/2") and 2,000' of 5" LDH supply line. In addition, it also carries Holmatro® extrication tools (spreader/cutter/rams), Junk Yard Dog® struts and rope/water rescue gear. It is fully certified as a QRS (Quick Response Service) unit for EMS first response.
Engine 96 which responds from the substation operates a 2018 KME Panther 1500/750 engine that is staffed during weekday alarms by the public works crew with volunteers handling night/weekend response.Marine 48 - 1997 Ford Expedition - 2013 Rock Proof River Rocket
This watercraft is exactly the type of unyque thing that I enjoy finding while out "free-styling" (stopping at random firehouses without pre-arranged visits) - Delaware Valley Fire Company is one of only a few emergency response agencies that operate this type of watercraft. Originally designed for sport fishing, this craft's ability to operate in shallow water makes it particularly useful for Delaware Valley's response areas where shallow, rock filled waterways are common. Featuring an 18" aluminum hull with a 200hp Mercury® Optimax in-board jet drive, this boat will draft in as little
as 6" of water and when on plane is capable of transversing waterways with less than 2" of water! Custom built by a local Pennsylvania firm, it features large front bow hand rails and rear access steps for rescuers/victims to easily enter/exit the water. Seating three swift water rescue technicians with
ample room for multiple occupants, Marine 48 is equipped with Marine Band/Bucks County fireground radios, a full scene lighting package and marine/swift water rescue gear. This was the first (and only) Rock Proof jet boat I had ever seen/photographed, there were only 3 to 4 known emergency response
agencies operating them for water rescue - since initially photographing this boat in 2018, I had the opportunity in 2019 to photograph a 2015 Rock Proof jet boat operated by the Lower Swatara FD in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
