Organized in 1910, the Witmer Fire Protective Association provides Fire and Rescue protection to East Lampeter Township serving a primarily Amish farming community. Sixty volunteers (many from the Amish community they serve) provide Fire, Rescue and EMS First Response protection answering an average of 180 calls annually.

Engine 62-2 - 2009 Pierce Arrow XT 2000 gpm/2500 gal.
The primary suppression unit, it is assigned first due for structure/vehicle fires and automatic alarms. It features a 10" rear square dump chute with two 8" round side chutes and a 1250 gpm TFT® Hurricane remote control monitor. A 20kw hydraulic generator provides power for 14,000 watts of scene lighting including a 15' 5,400 watt light tower. Its' firefighting equipment complement includes 200' 1-1/2" & 2-1/2" bumper attack lines, four crosslays (200/300' 1-1/2" & 2-1/2"), a 400' rear pre-connected 2" attack line, dual 300' 3" attack lines with pre-connected Blitzfire® monitors and 1,100' of 5" LDH supply line. In addition, it is outfitted with six SCBA, a thermal imager, 5 gas meter, 150' 1-3/4" high rise hose pack, Pro-Pak® foam pack, 20 gallons of AFFF foam, gas/electric PPV fans, DeWalt® battery powered cordless tools and rotary/chains saws.
Engine 62-1 - 2019 Pierce Enforcer AWD 1500 gpm/500 gal.
Having replaced a 1998 HME 4x4/New Lexington 2000/600 rescue engine that now serves in South America, this rig responds first due to auto accidents, rescue calls and brush/woods fires. Seating five (four with SCBA + driver SCBA), it features a Nightscan® LED light tower as well as hydraulic all wheel drive with independent hydraulic motors supplying power to each wheel hence the lower profile of this rig when compare to traditional custom cab 4x4 engines featuring a standard driveshaft. It is equipped with a thermal imager, five gas meter, Holmatro® CORE series hydraulic extrication tools (spreader/cutter/ram and combi-tool) powered by a duo pump, three Maxiforce® airbags, two Junkyard Dog® Nightmare rescue struts, Dewalt® battery operated hand tools, chain/circular saws, RIT pack and 50+ feet of ground ladders. In addition, BLS medical gear including an AED and water rescue equipment are carried in cab mounted compartments. Its' hoseload (which deploys front and rear to reduce the rig's overall length) includes pre-connected attack lines (200' 1-/2" and 2" in the front bumper, 300' rear 1-1/2", 2" and 3" attached to a Blitzfire® portable monitor), 400' of 1" forestry hose, two 12' lengths of six inch hard suction, a 5" x four 2-1/2" gated manifold for tanker fill site operations and 1,000 of 5" LDH supply line.
Tanker 62 - 1994 Peterbilt/New Lexington 1750 gpm/3000 gal.
Responding first due for mutual aid tanker assists as well as third due in its’ "local", it is set up to operate in a tanker shuttle or as a nurse tanker using single or dual folding tanks. It features two 200’ 2” attack lines mounted on reels, three 10” air operated side/rear dump valves, two 3” gated dry tank fills with Storz couplers and four LDH discharges. It is equipped with assorted pony lengths of 4” and 5” hose, a set of 5” hose ramps, a 3,500 gallon folding tank and two SCBA.
Squad 62-2 - 1997 Freightliner/Emergency One
Originally serving as an ambulance in Connecticut, this rig was retrofitted for manpower transport and traffic control. First due to traffic control calls and when special called, it seats six and is equipped with a large quantity of traffic control equipment and absorbent materials for spill control, a mini refrigerator for rehab supplies and assorted extinguishers. Witmer also operates a 2016 Dodge Ram 3500 four door cab pick-up for fireground support,
manpower transport and EMS first response.
