Originally chartered in 1904 as the Old York Fire Company, the name was changed to the Elkins Park Fire Company in 1926. Serving as District 3 of Cheltenham Township,
the company's 30 volunteers answer an average of 400-500 alarms annually.Engine 3 - 2007 Pierce Enforcer 1750 gpm/500 gal.
Outfitted with a generator, 250' cord reel and three pre-connects, this rig was one of twins formerly operated by Elkins Park. Its' twin was sold to the neighboring Horsham Fire Company where it has been repainted in their color scheme of White with Blue reflective stripes.
Antique - 1893 Hose Reel
The original fire apparatus purchased following the company's formation in 1892, this hand drawn hose cart has been restored. In 1907, a horse drawn chemical and hose wagon entered service with a $5 bounty offered to the first area resident who responded with a horse team to pull the apparatus to fires. Elkins Park Fire Company (then known as the Old York Road Fire Co.) holds the distinction of operating the first motorized fire apparatus in Cheltenham Township, a 1,000 gpm pumper nicknamed "The Gray Terror" which was actually painted the light beige color which has been used on every apparatus ordered since then including the present day fleet.
